Lisa Laughbaum

Lisa Laughbaum, a formally educated and practiced musician, has been teaching her program, The Children’s Music Workshop, at preschools and daycares in North San Diego County for almost twenty years. After graduating from UCSD with a degree in music, Lisa decided to create her own preschool music program and corresponding CD collection. Her twelve CDs have made her a popular local icon, and she enjoys performing for children all over Southern California.
The overwhelming success of The Children’s Music Workshop classes lead to the production of her television pilot, a music education piece that garnered a Parents Guide Award and was nominated for an Emmy for Excellence in Children’s Programming.
Lisa is first and foremost a vocalist, and she plays every Friday night with her husband, Michael, in B Natural, a rock, blues, and reggae band. The duo has been playing on The Bahia Belle, a paddlewheel boat at The Bahia Resort in Mission Bay, California, every weekend for over sixteen years.
In addition, Lisa also teaches piano in the afternoon. She has developed a semi-private instructional program that combines a formal piano lesson, with computer music games, and practice time. She services over 40 students a week with patience and caring and loves every minute of it!
Lisa is very creative and is constantly coming up with new and innovative show ideas, most of which are designed to teach music to children. However, she has also written a game show for young adults, and she and her husband are currently writing a sci-fi adventure that they hope to pitch to James Cameron someday!

Michael Laughbaum

Michael Laughbaum is also a formally educated and practiced musician, and has his degree in music from UCSD, as well. He plays the part of Professor Pythagorus when ever the need arises and enjoys performing for children alongside Lisa. Michael is also  a talented singer, however, his main instrument is guitar, and he is well known in the area as a result of his masterful playing. Michael began gigging professionally at age fourteen and has performed at clubs all over the San Diego area ever since. He met Lisa at Palomar College while the two were working on their degrees, and they decided to form B Natural, a rock, blues and reggae band that has been working steadily ever since. Michael also performs as a single and has a blues trio called Nude Blues which features Joe Godfrey on bass and Mark Cutkomp on drums. Michael has worked every weekend for the last sixteen years on The Bahia Belle at The Bahia Resort in Mission Bay, California; an amazing record for any working musician! Michael is also a comedy traffic instructor for The Improv Traffic School, and he enjoys the time he spends enlightening ticketed drivers about the proper way to drive. In addition, Michael is a stay at home father, and he home schools their nine year old son, Ian, a budding actor.
